PRECIOUS PLATTERS AUCTION

Sponsored by Jean & William Soman

Fall 2007

Dear Artists & Celebrities

For the Jewish Museum of FloridaÕs next signature Gala Purim Ball, to be held on Thursday, March 13, 2008, we are again calling on artists and celebrities for your participation. Similar to our highly successful Mask Auction for Purim Ball 2002, the Museum will provide you with an unfinished 12Ó round wooden plate to embellish in any style you choose. The completed artworks will be displayed and auctioned to the highest bidders, with more than 600 guests from FloridaÕs corporate and philanthropic communities expected at the Ball.

Why plates? In conjunction with the holiday of Purim, which celebrates the Jewish peopleÕs freedom from tyranny about 2,600 years ago, is the tradition of giving platters filled with fruits, candies, nuts and cookies, to family and friends. The ÒPrecious PlattersÓ auction relates to this tradition.

Nearly 200 artists and celebrities have previously enjoyed their participation each year in this event. Your donated talents will be deeply appreciated and publicized to the entire Museum membership. Proceeds from the Ball help support the MuseumÕs exhibits, collections and public education programs. You will enjoy and be proud of your involvement!

Please review the enclosed fact sheet about the ÒPrecious PlattersÓ auction and confirm your participation on the enclosed Agreement. As soon as your confirmation is received, you will receive your platter to start decorating.

For additional information please contact either of us, or Jo Ann Arnowtiz, Associate Director of the Museum, at 305-672-5044, ext. 3164.

Sincerely,
